William Wordsworth was born 1770, a town on the edge of the Cumberland highlands. Both father and mother died in boyhood, his mother first ,his father when he was fourteen. Like many of his generation he was filled with enthusiasm for the French Revolution, and after he came to London, unsealed in his plans, he was in Devonshire (1796) where he saw much of S.T.Coleridge.
